Corringham is an English town, with its commercial centre in smaller Stanford-Le-Hope immediately to its south-west. It is in the unitary authority of Thurrock and a traditional (Church of England) parish stretching from Horseshoe Bay in the Thames Estuary to Dry Street, south of Langdon Hills. It is in the far east of the borough. The first of its two parish churches originated in the Saxon period. Corringham was formerly served by the Corringham Light Railway which connected the Kynoch munitions factory with the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. The small historic heart is one of the seven conservation areas in the borough, which is for local government matters a Unitary Authority. In electoral ward (areas of boroughs drawn for equal electorate) the town falls into Stanford East and Corringham Town.
